Michael A. Gold practices in the areas of elder law, long-term care planning, trusts and estates, estate planning, and estate administration.

Michael provides a personal approach to his planning and counseling, taking the time to get to know his clients and to educate them regarding significant objectives that can be achieved through proper planning. For Michael, planning transcends the mere preparation of legal documents. His goal is to understand what motivates his clients and to understand their family dynamics. Client education is a priority for Michael, who takes pride in being able to explain difficult concepts in easy-to-understand terms in order to empower the client to be a co-decision maker in the planning process. He works hard to ensure that his clients’ accumulated wealth is distributed to their valued beneficiaries with the least erosion from long-term care expenses, estate taxes, creditor claims, and court costs.

Michael graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo with Honors in 1970 and from Albany Law School in 1973. He was admitted to practice law in the State of New York in 1974, joining his father, Benjamin Gold, in private practice. In 1974, Benjamin Gold and Michael Gold formed the law firm of Gold and Gold. Benjamin Gold has since retired. After bringing on Michael D. Dezik in September 2021, Michael joined Michael D. Dezik, Esq. to form the partnership of Gold and Dezik, Attorneys at Law.

Michael is a member of the New York State Bar Association and is also a member of its Elder Law Committee. He is also a member of ElderCounsel and WealthCounsel. Both of these organizations are national in scope and are for attorneys whose main focus is Elder Law, Trusts, and Estate Planning.

Michael serves and has served on numerous Non-Profit Boards of Directors and regularly contributes legal services to assist local charitable organizations. He is presently a member of the Board of Trustees of the Hadley School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, which has its offices in Winnetka, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Hadley is the largest organization in the United States that teaches Braille and other life skills to the blind and visually impaired. Michael is fluent in Braille.

Michael is a frequent speaker on Elder Law issues and has spoken at all local hospitals and many Churches and Senior Organizations.

Michael feels a keen sense of responsibility toward his clients and attends numerous continuing legal educational events throughout the year to ensure that his clients’ interests are protected.
